British Gas

British Gas supplies gas and electricity to residential and business customers. It is the biggest energy supplier in the UK domestic market. British Gas is Scottish Gas in Scotland and Nwy Prydain in Wales. It has more than 6 million customers as an electricity supplier and about 11 million gas customers. It accounts for about 50% of the UK domestic gas market. British Gas is a subsidiary of the Centrica Group. Centrica operates mainly in the UK, North America and Europe. Centrica also has other retail brands: Luminus and Direct Energy.

British Gas employs more than 12,000 people in their UK call centres and more than 8,000 registered engineers. British Gas tries to reduce the impact of its business on the environment. British Gas also invests in renewable energy and helps its customers to reduce their carbon footprint. By 2020 British Gas will have invested more than £15 to secure new power and gas supplies. The Europe’s largest wind farm has been built by British Gas off the Lincolnshire coast.

British has simplified its range of tariffs and offers 3 main plans: a standard tariff, a fixed tariff and discounted online tariff. British Gas also offers Homecare cover which includes central heating and boiler plans.  These contracts are separated from your energy supply.
