Company History:

Established in 2003, Utilita Energy broke into a tough market with the intention of making a difference to the way pre-pay energy is supplied. They work to tackle fuel poverty head-on and recognise the shortcomings of the antiquated pre-pay energy system, but also the potential it has to alleviate the stresses of those that are experiencing fuel poverty.

In 2008, Utilita Energy partnered with Secure Meters, who became the manufacturing supplier of Utilita Energy’s smart metering equipment, enabling them to install smart meters on a much greater scale at no cost to their customers.

Today Utilita Energy is the second largest installer of smart metering equipment in Great Britain, having installed smart meters in over 350,000 domestic homes by early 2016. Supporting the government’s smart meter rollout programme, which sets the goal of every home having a smart meter by 2020, Utilita Energy works to develop Pay As You Go energy – a mode in which they firmly believe smart metering equipment performs at its best.
